SIRS Issue Reseacher

It gives you a long list to look through and see if there is something that catches your eye...I picked suicide.  The reason I chose it is because when I was a teenager I had thought about suicide a time or two, the rate of it is increasing now a days and I am reading a YARP book called Thirteen Reasons Why....deals with suicide.

It first comes up with the definition of suicide and when click on topic overview it talks about mental heath. Mental health is a state of cognitive or emotional well-being. There are different research tools that you can use...there is Timeline, Global Impact and Statistics.  There are other tools and many things on the home page of suicide that will give you information.  Also, there is a box showing where you can get articles...newspaper, magazines, viewpoints, reference and graphic/media.  It provides a lot of different information you can use.

Out of the topics to chose from I picked Fine Arts.  It gives you a list of different courses - Dance, Music, Opera, Theater and Arts.  It also provides you with research ideas....different ones you can choose from.  Like if you wanted to learn how to dance the Samba you can click on it and it will take you to a ballroom dance site and you can click on learn the dances, foot positions, posture and so much more.  That is really cool!!  So much information that my brain is getting fried  haha

  1. Ha, ha, indeed, Librarian Bri! I hope you will send your older patrons to this resource--middle school and above. The research tools in the Leading Issues offer a lot of help for students, too. Thanks for the comments.
